Term so far

February 05, 2012, 05:36:49 PM

With Torpids only 17 days away (and Rowing On a mere 12) training is in full swing across the club. W1 and M1 are working hard in spite of icy conditions and are looking forward to tearing up their respective Div 2s. IWL D was unfortunately cancelled today due to ice, but IWL C was a fortnight ago and saw a very strong performance from W1 (finishing joint third in the rankings) and a respectable effort from a rate-capped M1. IWL E is a week today, where all crews will be looking for a strong performance.

The lower crews are also hopeful for success in Torpids. M2, M3 and W2 must all row on, but the prospects of that happening are good. 5 crews in bumps would represent a bumper year for Queen's, but the level of commitment to coaching and training across all levels is the highest it has been in years, meaning optimism is not in short supply.

Wish us luck!

The Term Ahead

January 13, 2012, 09:49:23 AM

Both the Men and Women's Senior squads are resting today after a intensive few days of training camp, the men in particular having been tested to their limits with 3 sessions/day for a week and four consecutive earlies. Character building to say the least.

The term ahead will be hectic but exciting. Racing starts next Sunday with the Isis Winter League, with training ultimately geared towards Torpids which runs from the 22nd to the 25th of February.

Healthy numbers across all the squads should make for an enjoyable and successful term all round. Updates, as always, on twitter: @queensrowing.

A Week of Racing for QCBC

November 23, 2011, 03:42:29 PM

Some exciting racing coming up for QCBC.

Our plucky novice men are competing in Christ Church regatta. Sadly they lost their first race against a strong Hertford this afternoon, but thanks to a bye in their repecharge are through to the second round anyway, which means they will be racing either tomorrow afternoon or Friday morning. Best of luck lads.

Meanwhile, on Sunday the senior women will be racing in the Isis Winter League, which also happens on the Isis in Oxford.

The senior men will spend their Sunday at Wallingford Head, a gruelling 4.25k head race at nearby Wallingford in which they have entered an 8+ and a 4+. The challenge for the 4+ is to hold off chasing Oriel!

Autumn Fours

October 23, 2011, 04:40:13 PM

Queen's entered one men's 4+ into Autumn Fours and had a good day, reaching the quarter finals despite not having had a single training session as a crew. Trinity were dispatched on the second attempt after the first race was klaxoned, but a strong St. Catz crew ultimately proved too good.

The club has Isis Winter Leagues, Nephthy's and Wallingford regatta lined up before the end of term. Check out twitter.com/queensrowing for regular updates.
