The Queen’s College Boat Club is a sports club at Queen’s College, Oxford. It’s primary purpose is to make the sport of competitive rowing available to it’s members, whilst enhancing their University lives through a variety of social events, education and above all, memorable experiences.
It is run by a committee of students with a Senior Member overseeing the club’s activities. It is funded by generous donations from it’s Old Members, subs from it’s members and college support.
The club has a wide range of facilities available to members, including a modern and well equipped gym, a wide range of water craft, a large Boat House on the Isis stretch and racking in Abingdon for the 1st Squads. The unisex gym notably includes eight Concept 2 Model D Ergs with PM4 monitors, a range of weights equipment and washroom facilities. The fleet compromises 4 x M8+, 3 x W8+, a M/W4+ , a M/W2+ and a training launch. The first Eights currently enjoy access to the latest in Janousek design with new boats purchased on average every 4-6 years.
The club primarily trains towards the Torpids and Summer Eight races, but enters a variety of external regattas throughout the year including Wallingford, Bedford and Shrewsbury Regatta. Novices receive instruction from in-house trained coaches throughout the year, whilst the 1st Eights receive professional coaching. Current 1st Eight positions for Torpids are: Men 1/Div. III, Women 7/Div. I, and for Summer Eights are: Men 9/Div. II, Women 12/Div. II.
We are very proud to be sponsored by leading professional services firm KPMG.
